The Fall Festival may be mostly about fun and games but there are some lessons to be learned. Helfrich Park Middle School students experienced subjects like social studies and math at the festival. They visited St. Boniface Church, Koch Park, and historic homes learning about the culture and the history of the west side. They also used math to calculate the probability of winning games and prizes. Mike Heard is a Science teacher and he says students learn what they should and shouldnt do when playing games. As a part of English class, Helfrich Park 8th graders will also have to write an essay about what they experienced at Fall Festival.
