Update-New Harmony Bridge Timeline

Engineers say it will probably be 30 to 45 days before traffic can use the New Harmony bridge again.
Crews were on the scene Wednesday to assess the situation.

The Bridge Commission shut it down last week over concerns of a developing crack in one of the piers.
Engineers gave the commission permission to do whatever necessary to strengthen the pier.
They hope that work will be done before Thanksgiving.
About 900 drivers daily crossed the bridge before it was closed. It served as a vital link between southern Illinois and southwest Indiana.
