Pursuit Ends With Police Killing Suspect

Pursuit ends with police killing suspect (Terre Haute, IN) Indiana State Police are investigating a midnight incident on I-70 that resulted in police shooting the suspect to death. Terre Haute Police Department were investigating a reported homicide at a hotel on US 41 just north of I-70. Officers then learned a male suspect was driving an SUV and possibly had up to four young children - ranging in age from two to six - with him. The vehicle was potted at 11 last night and a pursuit on I-70 ended at milemarker 62.5 toward midnight. The suspect eventually released three of the four children with him, but held the fourth on his lap while waving a handgun. According to officers, the suspect became agitated and raised the handgun toward officers and the child in a threatening manner. Thats when a State Police Officer fired one shot, striking the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hendricks County Coroner and the children were not harmed. The unidentified state trooper involved in the shooting is a three year veteran assigned to the Indianapolis Post. Identification of the officer and suspect will be released upon notification of relatives and department authorization.
