Police in Spencer County had their hands full with a standoff that lasted several hours and nearly shut down the town of Rockport Monday.
It started when Indiana State Police got a call just before 11:30 that morning to be on the lookout for a blue Buick driven by William Rush of Cloverport, Kentucky.
Rush had a gun in his car and police believe he was on his way to do harm to his wife or ex-wife.
They eventually caught up with him just before 1 oclock Monday afternoon.. east of Rockport Indiana.. and pursued him into the center of town, where the standoff started.
Police negotiated with Rush for just under 4 hours.
He eventually surrendered to police peacefully, saying he wanted to talk to his family.
Rush is charged with resisting law enforcement and a probation warrant.
Hes currently in the Spencer County Jail.
