A judge followed the recommendations of a jury and handed a convicted murderer a sentence of 25 years to life.
Last month, a Muhlenberg County Kentucky jury found Russell Winstead guilty in connection with the 2003 murder of his aunt.
The 12 jurors recommended the sentence, plus an additional 20 years for robbery.
Winsteads situation made national headlines when "Americas Most Wanted" profiled the case on its show.
He was eventually found in Costa Rica and extradited back to Kentucky.
He will have to serve at least 42 years before he is eligible for parole.
