Mt. Carmel - Rate Hike Protest

Several residents in Mount Carmel Illinois hit the street Monday night to protest a possible utility rate hike.
Mt. Carmels public utility company is privately owned and they want to increase the electric and gas by 38 percent.
Compared to most cities in the area the residents living in Mt. Carmel already pay the most.
The city is also not to happy with the idea.
If this goes thru they will have to raise taxes.
So they hope that more residents will come out and protest.
The rate hike vote will take place next month.
