Today marks the one year anniversary of the murder of a Kentucky Social Service Aide. Boni Frederick was killed in Henderson during a supervised visit. Her family and friends are mourning her death the effects of Fredericks murder are still felt state wide. The pain of Sandy Travis mothers murder is still fresh - even a year later. But Travis isnt the only one mourning the loss of Boni Frederick. "We think of Boni when we pull in every driveway," says former co-worker Marilyn Belt. Frederick died right after she pulled into this henderson driveway last year. She was a social aide worker going to a scheduled supervised visit with 10 month old Saige Terrell and his mother Renee Terrell. But when Frederick walked into the house she was killed. Terrell and her boyfriend Christopher Lutrell took the baby causing a nationwide wide manhunt that lasted three days. "It sucked the life right out of me." But started a new life - a crusade for her mother. "My main thing was I didnt want something to happen to anyone else." Travis fought for Bonis bill and was presented a signed copy at Fredericks memorial service. Because of her mothers death social workers in the state of Kentucky now have stricter safety controls including panic buttons and more social workers on the front lines. "121 jobs is a big step." Travis still wants to see more done. "Its a hard walk everyday." But shell keep walking if it means others in social work avoid her mothers fate. State officials say theyll continue to fight for Frederick too. They plan to introduce more social work legislation in the 2008 session.
