Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson and a panel of executive officials and emergency management folks announced a local state of emergency Thursday.
Its a measure that waives certain regulations so City and County officials can rent equipment and hire temporary workers for clean up efforts without waiting for approval.
Itll also qualify the area for state and federal aid down the line.
The group also announced temporary changes to trash collection.
Anyone who suffered storm damage is allowed to throw away green waste.
They want you put it out on your regular trash collection day and keep it separated from the rest of your garbage.
