A 21 year old Evansville man is in jail and accused of posing as a police officer.
A gas station clerk became suspicious when the suspect, Blake King, tried to buy cigars.
The clerk asked for identification from the man, but says King instead claimed he was with the Indiana Excise Police.
King's jacket had a police patch, color badges and a captain's label.
Police believe King was trying to impress the woman, even complimenting her for requiring proof of age.
King admitted to police that he was drinking beer before the incident.
