Memorial High School Soccer Champs

This weekends championship win for the memorial high school boys soccer team was a huge accomplishment. They arrived at Evansvilles Reitz Memorial high school aboard a fire truck to crowds cheering them on. The boys soccer team came back from Indianapolis as state champions for the 11th time in the programs history. Its was the sort of homecoming usually reserved for sports like football. While players and alumni gathered here at Memorial are excited about the championship and what it means for the sport. Coach Bill Vieth has even more personal reasons for being happy about the teams success. Vieths father, Bill Senior was one of a number of parents in the early 70s who starting soccer programs now in the area. Bringing the sport from a youth league into the schools.
