Berry plastics plans to make Evansville its new global headquarters... creating 250 new jobs.
Governor Mitch Daniels and Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel joined Berry executives for the announcement Tuesday.
The plastic packaging manufacturer is investing more than 20 million to build and equip a new headquarters located on Oakley Road.
Chief Operating Officer Brent Beeler says the move will create hundreds of area job openings.
Many of the jobs will be for engineers and accountants in the 30 dollars an hour range.
Beeler says the company had five corporate offices that they just acquired.
He say they are in the process of moving some of those employees to Evansville and at the same time hiring people locally for the professional positions.
Beeler gave no specifics on when they would start the hiring process.
Currently Berry employs more than 12-hundred people at its Evansville operations and operates 55 manufacturing facilities worldwide.
