The crime is still unsolved - but the woman murdered in an Evansville gas station will now live on in a special memorial. Jean Cook was killed two years ago working at Buslers on Highway 41 north. Its called a living memorial at the the new Burdette Park Trail. Its a year and a half in the making by Cooks family and a member of the FOX 7 news team. Bobbi Jo Cook with help from her daughter Morgan put the final touches on Jean Cooks memorial a red dogwood tree at the very beginning of the Burdette Park Trail. "Its a way to keep celebrating my mom rather than mourning her death," says Bobbi Jo Cook. Jean Cook was murdered while working at a gas station just over two years ago. Her death was a not only a tough loss on her daughter, but her grandaughter who was only 8 at the time. "Its a struggle to go through life without her," says Morgan. Though she cant have her back now Morgan and her mother have something that lives in her honor. "I can actually say Im happy and its been a long time since I felt like that," says Bobbi Jo. This isnt only a way to honor Jean, but eventually they hope to fill this entire trail with living memorials it was the work of Bobbi Jo but also FOX 7s own Andy Schroeder. The two met when Schroeder knocked on Bobbi Jos door after her mothers death, a common practice for a reporter, "but this story was different something resonated," says Schroeder. And the two formed a friendship. Bobbi Jo asked for Schroeders help with a memorial. "She kept calling and pushing for it." And after a year and half of work its finally grown. "To see her finally get something good and know I played a small role in that its a great feeling." And a small role in offering memorials for others who have passed. "Its living. Generations from here will come to something that wont die go away this will always be here." Even though Jean Cook never will.

Why not plant a tree for every unsolved murder in this area? You could fill up the park. I'm sorry this case has never been solved, but it isn't the ONLY case in this area that hasn't been solved.
