A MEAT COMPANY IS LAUNCHING A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH.
CARGILL INCORPORATED IS RECALLING MORE THAN A MILLION POUNDS OF GROUND BEEF FOR POSSIBLE E- COLI CONTAMINATION.
CARGILL PRESIDENT JOHN KEATING SAYS NO ILLNESSES HAVE BEEN REPORTED AND THE COMPANY IS WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE U-S-D-A TO REMOVE THE PRODUCT FROM THE MARKETPLACE.
THE RECALL AFFECTS TEN STATES... INCLUDING CONNECTICUT, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA AND VIRGINIA.
CARGILL PREVIOUSLY LAUNCHED A VOLUNTARY RECALL OF GROUND BEEF PATTIES BACK ON OCTOBER SIXTH AFTER EIGHT PEOPLE WHO ATE THE FOOD DEVELOPED AN E. COLI ILLNESS.
A LAWSUIT IS PENDING FROM THAT OUTBREAK.
THE U-S-D-A SAYS IT WILL INCREASE TESTING AND RE-INSPECTION OF POULTRY AND MEAT IMPORTED FROM CANADA.
