Martin County Prosecutor, Mike Steiner, got news last night that someone broke into his office building with intentions of burning it down. Three fires were set in his office alone, and two more in the rest of the building. Steiner says the arsonist shut his office door on the way out, keeping the fire in the room, and ultimately saving the entire building from burning. Even though Shoals is a small town, with a fairly low crime rate, the job of county prosecutor still has risks. Steiner wasnt surprised when he got the call. He and police have an idea of who may have done this, but wouldnt say names. When volunteer fire fighters arrived to put out the fires, the first man on the scene wasnt even in full uniform. When the flames were finally out, all was not lost. The building sustained heavy smoke and water damage, but Mike expects to be back in the building shortly. If you have any information about concerning the arson, contact Shoals Police Department.
