Flight 587, Six Years Later
(New York, NY) -- Today marks the sixth anniversary of the crash of American Airlines flight 587.
Just a few months after the deadly 9-11 terrorists attacks, flight 587 took off from New Yorks JFK Airport enroute to the Dominican Republic when it plummeted into Belle Harbor Queens.
All of the 260 people on board were killed, along with five others on the ground, making the crash the second deadliest U.S. air disaster to date.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will join the victims families at a service held at the site of the Flight 587 Memorial this morning.

Feds Probing Oil Spill In San Francisco Bay
(San Francisco, CA) -- Federal officials have launched a criminal investigation into the massive oil spill in Californias San Francisco Bay.
Despite efforts to minimize the damage, experts say the spill has already taken a huge toll on the environment.
Nearly one-third of the birds caught in the oil slick have died, while more than 200 others have been rescued and are being nursed back to health.
About 60-thousand gallons of thick, tar-like bunker oil spilled from a container ship, after it collided with a bridge pier last week.

Search For Stacy Peterson Continues, Husband Suspect
(Bolingbrook, IL) -- The search for a missing Illinois mother of two will continue this week.
Searchers continue to look for 23-year-old Stacy Peterson who disappeared over two weeks ago.
Illinois State Police are calling the case a "potential homicide" and say her husband is quote, "clearly a suspect." Stacys husband, 53-year-old Bolingbrook Police Sergeant Drew Peterson, has maintained that Stacy left him for someone else.
Volunteers will resume searching area bodies of water this morning.

Stabbing At Youth Soccer Game In Washington, DC
(Washington, DC) -- A youth soccer game turned violent in the nations capital yesterday.
Police say a stabbing took place in the midst of some type of commotion on the field not far from RFK Stadium in Northeast Washington, DC.
At least one person was stabbed, while several others were reportedly hurt.
The victim who received the knife wounds is reportedly not suffering from any life-threatening injuries.
Theres been no word yet on the conditions of any of the other victims.

Veterans Day Closures
(New York, NY) -- With the legal observance of Veterans Day comes a number of closures. Government offices, schools, post offices, and the U.S. bond market are closed for the day.
However, its business as usual for the stock market.
Therell also be no mail delivery, garbage or recycling pickup.
Alternate side of the street parking is also suspended.

A Boy For Christina?
With the birth of her child drawing near, Christina Aguilera is really starting to rake in those baby shower gifts.
According to "People" magazine, the pop singer welcomed family and friends for a baby shower on Saturday.
A source says the gathering was the first of three events planned to celebrate the little bundle of joy.
While Christina has not revealed the sex of the baby, insiders say the main theme of Saturdays soiree was blue.
This will be the first child for both Aguilera and hubby Jordan Bratman.
The couple tied the knot in 2005 after several years of dating.

Balloons Getting Ready For Macys Thanksgiving Parade Debut
(Queens, NY) -- The latest additions to the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade got their first taste of freedom in Queens, New York.
Macys officials say the new Shrek, Abby Cadabby, and Hello Kitty balloons went for practice flights in a local park yesterday to help prepare the balloons and their handlers for the real deal later this month.
The real deal, by the way, is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 22nd at 9 a.m. Eastern time.
