breaking news
The City of Evansville Parks Department began shopping for a contractor today to construct a $200,000 trail around the old State Hospital grounds. The jogging, walking and biking trail will be constructed of crushed gravel, and will provide a safe path away from traffic to exercise on.
Parks Department Planner Glenn Boberg says the city also received a $1 million grant from the state to build a pedestrian bridge across the Lloyd Expressway to link the trail with Wessleman Park and Wessleman woods, providing what he calls a "synergy between two different types of recreational facilities."
Area joggers say the Tri-State is lacking in places to safely run. The new trail at the State Hospital was designed with them in mind.
