They are two of the luckiest turkeys in the state. This years National Thanksgiving turkey and alternate are from Dubois, Indiana. The feathered animals will take part in President Bushs holiday presentation next week. One bird will be chosen as the nations thanksgiving turkey while both will be pardoned- not eaten- as part of the tradition. Chairman of the National Turkey Federation Ted Seger says choosing the right turkeys was tough. This is first time turkeys were selected from Indiana.
