breaking news
Preparations for Thanksgiving are happening all across the Tri-State.
Evansville Christian Life Center is no different - where a special group is preparing free hot meals for those who need them on Thanksgiving Day.
The cooking is wrapping up here - volunteers from the Evansville Remodelers Association spent the last three hours preparing thanksgiving meals for those most in need this holiday season.
By day Carl Shepherd inspects home.
But by night - at least on this night - Shepherd is an onion chopping expert.
"Im good at it."
Shepherd is just one of about 75 volunteers from the Remodelers Association preparing Thanksgiving dinner at the Evansville Christian Life Center.
But this isnt a simple dinner.
At least 38 hundred local families will receive some turkey, stuffing and pumpkin muffins.
This is the tenth year for the volunteers.
Every one of those years Shepherds been sitting in the onion room chopping - with his special knives.
"Like every institution they have dull knives so I bring my own knives, that are sharp."
Doing his part to give back during the holiday season
The Remodelers Association also donated one thousand dollars to this meal program.
Thats important to the Life Center.
They have plenty of volunteers - but can still use donations to help pay for all this food thats being prepared.
Theyre also taking names for families who are still looking for some of these hot meals delivered on Thanksgiving.
For more information on donating or receiving the meals you can call the Christian Life Center.
