The pilot, John McKinney, was from Sturgis Kentucky. Clean up is underway in the muddy field where a Cessna plane went down Monday, but pilot, John McKinney, who died in the plane crash will be remembered by family, forever. His parents, Jerry and Betty McKinney call him a genuine, effective Christian since he was a little boy. His sisters say he was the best brother they could ask for. McKinney was flying from Alabama to Owensboro, but got rerouted to Evansville. When he took off again, he was just a mile away from the Owensboro Airport when his plane went down. McKinney had his pilot license for 37 years. His passion for flying came from his father, who also flew. But flying wasnt his only career. He was an independent agricultural missionary in Haiti. His family says he lived for God and others. Investigators say the plane was having engine trouble, but theyll continue looking into details of McKinneys tragic accident. His funeral will be held later this week.
