breaking news
A Warrick county girl is recovering after a car plowed her over after she got off the school bus.
The parents of 8 year old Kacey Groves say she is doing well after surgery at St.Marys Medical Center to repair her broken right leg Tuesday.
This after she was hit by 72 year old Marlene Helms after Helms drove through the school bus stop sign Monday.
The Groves say before their daughter was hit they had a long history of complaining to John H. Castle Elementary about the school bus route.
They say their daughter would have to crossover the busy Highway 261 intersection to get home.
They now say the school has been extremely supportive and are going to make changes.
The parents will not say whether they will take legal action against the school.
The driver of the car Marlene Helms is being charged with reckless driving.
It a Class B misdemeanor punishable up to 180 days in jail.
