The National Labor Relations Board has certified the results of a union vote by some of Casino Aztars employees.
That means the casinos parent company, Columbia Sussex, will be forced to go to the negotiating table.
And in Atlantic City, the Tropicana, a Columbia-Sussex property, was up for a five year license renewal.
Instead the New Jersey Gaming Commission voted to extend the license for only one year.
A member of the Gaming Commission said she thought Columbia-Sussex had "bitten off more than it could chew" and "was not able to run an Atlantic City casino."
