Tonight family and friends are honoring their loved ones lost who chose to be organ donors. The Indiana Lions Club Eye Bank and Community Tissue services hosted the second Annual Event for Organ Donors. Andrew Kuehn was only 22 when he took his own life. The loss is still fresh for his wife maria - but during her time of grief - shes finding solace in what her husband is giving back. A happy family picture is a far cry from the pain maria Kuehn feels tonight. But shes carrying on "This is just a big step to honor my husband." Andrew Kuehn committed suicide just last month - leaving behind Maria - and two sons Caleb - almost 2 and 7 month old Keegan. Hard isnt even a close enough word to explain what theyre dealing with - but Maria is staying positive for her boys. "I want to show them the things daddy did." Using what Andrew gave after he took his own life. "His corneas, veins, in his legs, heart valves." Andrew signed up to be an organ donor on his drivers license. Maria wanted to follow through with the decision - but says when they asked her to give - her first response was selfish. "No I dont want you to take that why do you need it?" At this memorial service for organ donors shes learning anonymous stories of why someone needed his eyes, his legs and his heart - and what shell always have to remember Andrew. "Maybe a man will be able to see a child for the first time that is worth everything." Maria doesnt know yet who got Andrews organs but she hopes one day to meet them. The Vanderburgh County coroners office says this year alone 38 people have donated organs.
