Is there another person who could have killed an Evansville mother and her two children in April 2006?
39 year old Daniel Wilkes is on trial for the crime but the defense is trying to point the finger at someone else.
The defense says Michael Baker is the suspect he was a person of interest after the 3 murders today Wilkes attorneys claim he could have killed the family.
Daniels Wilkes could get the death penalty if hes found guilty of killing 38 year Donna Claspell, 13 year old Avery Pike and 8 year old Sydne Claspell.
Baker testified for several hours yesterday and today for the prosecution.
They also wanted Baker to tell the jury about a conversation he and Wilkes had when Wilkes says he and 13 year old Avery had oral sex.
The prosecution says thats wilkes motive for the murders.
They say Claspell found out about the molesting but the defense says Baker has a motive too.
Claspell, Wilkes and Baker met while in rehab at steppong stone.
After getting out a few weeks before the April 2006 murders Baker testified the 3 continued to use meth together that they received through baker from his son. The defense claims Baker and Claspell got in a fight about supplying the drugs and she threatened to turn him into police. Thats why they want the jury to think he committed the murders not their client.
Friday the jury also heard taped confessions Wilkes gave to police when he was arrested the day after police found the bodies. Theyre expected to hear more confessions from Wilkes when the trial continues Monday.
