The prosecution has rested in the Daniel Wilkes trial and the defense is ready to start calling witnesses. Wilkes is facing three counts of murder in the deaths of 38 year old Donna Claspell and her two daughters, 13 year old Avery Pike and 8 year old Sydne Claspell. An interview seen here on FOX 7 in April 2006 was the focus of Mondays testimony in the death penalty case for Daniel Wilkes. He confessed to the crimes but says he doesnt remember a lot of what happened. It corroborates the 4 1/2 hour tape played Friday where Wilkes tells Evansville detectives the same story. The defense is expected to called their witnesses Tuesday. The jury is expected to start deliberating by Wednesday.
