The death penalty phase is underway in the Daniel Wilkes trial. Wednesday a jury found Wilkes guilty of three counts of murder for the deaths of 38 year old Donna Claspell and her two daughters, 13 year old Avery Pike and 8 year old Sydne Claspell. Thursday, they heard from character witnesses the defense called on Wilkes behalf to try and save his life. The prosecution is trying to convince the jury to recommend the death penalty. They will decide that Friday.
