Redesigned Brescia License Plates Available

From: Brescia University: Redesigned Brescia Kentucky License Plates Available in 2008 Beginning in January of 2008, Brescia University will have an entirely new, campus-designed plate available for purchase from Kentucky County Clerks offices. This is the first time that Brescia has been able to design their own distinct Kentucky license plate for purchase by alumni, students, faculty, staff, and other supporters of Brescia. The license plate is designed to raise funds for student scholarships; $10 from the sale of each plate goes directly back to the University to support student scholarships. Brescia’s first plate hit the Kentucky highways in 2002. The plate design conception was made possibly the AIKCU, Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities, who worked with the General Assembly to create a template. All twenty AIKCU institutions shared a common plate background and color scheme. This year, thanks to advances in license plate printing technology, Brescia finally received the long-desired opportunity to make the plate distinctive. Brescia’s new plate will go on sale through all Kentucky County Clerks offices in January for January birth month renewals and new issues. Plates cost $44 upon initial issue; renewal is $31 in subsequent years. Each new purchase and renewal contributes $10 to Brescia for student scholarships. Current plate holders interested in renewing early should check with their local County Clerk about renewal policies. Plates must be purchased through the County Clerk’s office. To find contact information for your County Clerk, visit the Kentucky Motor Vehicle Licensing System website: http://mvl.ky.gov . All twenty of Kentucky’s nonprofit, independent four-year colleges and universities (AICKU) participated in designing a new plate for 2008. The plates have proven extremely popular among supporters of Kentucky’s independent colleges and universities, raising more than $129,000 dollars through 2006.
