New fuel economy standards will mean a change in how cars are made by the year 2020.
Its part of the new energy bill, signed by President Bush.

Sarah Wolfe and her husband have been bio-diesel fuel for their 1972 Mercedes for three years.
They were motivated by environmental concerns, and the high price of gasoline.
The experience they needed to do it, was found in the kitchen. The recipe book, Joshual Tickells: From The Fryer To The Fuel Tank.
Now the country is following a similar set of standards, not by requiring drivers to make their own fuel, but mandating automakers increase the average fuel economy of 35 miles per gallon.
The 35 mile per gallon mandate wont take affect until 2020, in the meantime, if you dont feel like making your own fuel, you may consider a hybrid or vehicle that runs on E85, and your selection of vehicles that do that, may soon increase,
with the new Chevy Malibu to go hybrid, and Tahoes.
The environmental lobbying group, Union of Concerned Scientists estimate the vehicle fuel economy changes will save consumers around 22-billion dollars a year in 2020.
But are consumers ready to leave petroleum behind? Some already are.
Others, a little reluctant. An E-85 station closed last summer in Louisville, Kentucky after the price began to rise.
The key says Indiana Farm Bureau Agent Tony Wolf, is to change the consumers mindset.
