The proposed Gateway Commons project for an area off Kentucky 54 in Owensboro is a no-go.
The state tax increment financing or TIF commission has refused to review the application for the project.
The proposal by Gulf-Stream Enterprises included developing a 321-million dollar commercial and business complex, a 140-million dollar arena, and convention center.
City Commissioner Al Mattingly told us via phone, he wasnt too surprised when he read the rejection letter yesterday because the deadline was drawing near, still he was disappointed.
Mattingly says this doesnt mean development wont continue in that area.
There has also been a lot of talk about development downtown, and Mattingly says he looks forward to working on future plans for the area
