breaking news
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels had a busy agenda this year. And it looks like 2008 will be just as packed. One of Governor Daniels hopes for the future is to streamline local government.
There are twice as many politicians than needed, taxing units no one can hold accountable, and taxes are too high at the local level. Its all about a 150 year old system. A committee recommendations to improve it. And issues like commission proposals and child welfare reform may get off the ground as early as January or February.
Daniels is proud of the work done in 2007. It was another record breaking year of bringing jobs to the state, making Indiana the only state in the midwest going down in unemployment. He sees a bright future for 2008. Daniels plans to ring in the new year supporting IUs football team in Arizona. Then, its back to business working on what might be his last year in office.
Daniels says his main priority is improving the state of Indiana and he hopes to continue that in 2008.
