Morning Crash Injures 13-Year-Old Driver
Knox County – Early this morning, December 31, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Old 67 at Old Terre Haute Road that injured a 13-year-old Vincennes driver.
Preliminary investigation revealed the 13-year-old boy took his mom’s 2000 Mercury Sable without her permission and drove nearly 2 ½ miles before crashing. He was driving southbound on Old 67 at Old Terre Haute Road when he lost control of the vehicle on a patch of ice. His vehicle left the roadway, collided into the earth embankment and came to a final rest in the ditch. The vehicle received approximately $4,000 in damage. The 13-year-old was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries. The 13-year-old boy was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, Class C Misdemeanor.
