A Newburgh woman wants to help kids with autism by giving them their own school.
Shannon Bartnicks son has the disorder and she says he and other children could benefit from a school offering specialized education.
Autism is a brain development disorder with no single identifiable cause.
Some kids have a more severe form than others.
Bartnick says Logan falls somewhere in the middle.
He enjoys using the computer to watch videos but has many difficulties with speaking and communicating.
So with seven others Bartnick decided to start a school dedicated to addressing autistic kids needs.
A school with more one on one interaction where ABA therapy is also used.
Bartnick says right now they are trying to build a board of directors and get help with grant writing so that they can potentially find some financial help.
She believes they need at least 100-thousand dollars to start the school.
