A POSEYVILLE MAN FINDS HIS DOG TRAPPED AND SHOT IN THE HEAD. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHO DID IT, AND NO ONES IN A HURRY TO HELP THE OWNER FIND OUT. JUST LAST WEEK, JOE BAUMHOLSER WAS CALLING TWO DOGS HOME. BUT EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING, ONE OF HIS HUSKYS WAS SHOT AND KILLED. HE SAYS HE CAME HOME THAT DAY AND WAS GREETED BY ONLY ONE OF HIS DOGS, CINNAMON. HE WASNT WORRIED UNTIL ABOUT AN HOUR PASSED AND HE STILL HADNT SEEN HIS OTHER DOG, DUSTY. HE SAW HIS DOG, LYING IN A CAGE, WITH BLOOD COMING FROM HIS HEAD AND MOUTH. JOE SAYS HIS DOG WAS LURED INTO THIS TRAP HERE. THE CAGE WAS ON HIS NEIGHBORS PROPERTY. HE SAYS THEYVE COMPLAINED ABOUT HIS DOGS ONCE BEFORE, BUT IT WAS A FEW YEARS AGO, AND THE DISPUTE WAS SETTLED. THE NEIGHBORS WOULDNT COMMENT ON CAMERA, BUT SAY THE TRAP WAS SET FOR A FOX, NOT A DOG, AND SAY THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHO SHOT DUSTY. NOW COULD A SHOOTER HAVE CONFUSED THE CAGED DOG WITH A FOX OR COYOTE? JOE: "NO IT WAS RIGHT IN THE HEAD, YOURE NOT GONNA SHOOT LONG RANGE RIGHT IN THE HEAD." WHEN HE FOUND THE DOG, JOE SAYS HE FILED A POLICE REPORT BUT THEY SAID THERE WASNT MUCH THEY COULD DO. HES NOW IN CONTACT WITH A LAWYER AND LOOKING INTO TRAPPING LAWS. IN THE MEAN TIME, HE SAYS HELL KEEP A CLOSER EYE ON THE ONE DOG HE HAS LEFT. WE TRIED TO CONTACT THE POSEY COUNTY DEPUTY ON THE CASE, BUT HE HASNT RETURNED OUR CALLS.
