Teen Arrested At Airport On Terrorism Threat
(Nashville, TN) -- A teenage runaway from California has been arrested in Nashville, Tennessee on terrorism charges.
On Tuesday, police apprehended the 16-year-old as he got off a Southwest Airlines plane from Los Angeles after authorities were tipped off that the teen possessed several suspicious items, with the intention of hijacking a plane.
The teen was found with duct tape, rope and handcuffs, as well as a flight plan and schedules.
The plan allegedly was to take control of the plane in mid-flight to Nashville and force the pilot to divert the aircraft to Lafayette, Louisiana, where authorities say he wanted to crash the airliner into a "Hannah Montana" concert.
The concert was actually not even scheduled for Tuesday, but for tonight instead.
Officials believe the teen never actually had the chance to follow through with the plan, as he was confronted on the plane and held until it landed.
The boy is now in the Davidson County Juvenile Justice Center on felony terrorism charges.
The FBI is also on the case.
