Jailed Councilman Commits Suicide

A western Kentucky city councilman charged with assault, has killed himself. Darrin Matheny is a Dawson Springs City Council member. Earlier this week he was arrested for allegedly attacking his girlfriend, Tina Lynch, in a school bus garage, where he was employed as a maintenance director. Kentucky State Police say they were called to Matheny's house shortly after noon where they found him dead of an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound.
