Annexation Area

Updated: February 1, 2008
The city of Evansville is about to get bigger if a proposed annexation goes through. Today mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel announced the city is filing a fiscal plan to annex part of Knight Township. Youre looking at a map of the proposed 15 thousand acre area. It borders Morgan Avenue to the north, the Lloyd on the south, the county line to the east and the city boundary near Royal Avenue on the west. It would add more than 17 hundred new residents to the city. City council will hear the first reading on this proposal Monday. If that passes a public hearing will be held within 60 days. Then property owners in the area have 90 days to protest. If nobody challenges it, the annexation is expected to happen around June second.
