Will Dawson Springs residents allow alcohol to be served in their city? Thats the question, as a move allow liquor sales goes to the voting booth on Tuesday. Alcohol was banned in the city back in the early 50s. And some people want to keep it that way while others think its time for a change. Owner of Arcadia Grill, Eddie Shelton says it time to put it back on the menu. He gathered more than 250 signatures on a petition to put the legalization of the sale of alcohol to a vote. Shelton says after the packaging product company Buckhorn closed its doors in December the citys economy took a big hit. Now the city needs revenue to keep the city going and keep the businesses in the city and to bring other businesses in. Dawson Springs Resident, Faye E. Fox disagrees. The 75 year old says she remembers the way the town use to be when alcohol was sold. Fox says it was a different type of town with more violence not a place to raise your children. Owner of the Panther Pizzeria Steve Boyd says he agrees with Fox. But all residents will have a say Tuesday, February 5th when the measure is set to be voted on.
