Cop Injured During Arrest

An Evansville police officer suffers a broken hand and nose while trying to arrest a man involved in a fight on Third Avenue. When police showed up, one of the suspects, Michael Mayse allegedly ran from them. According to the affidavit, when officer Kevin Mason tried to stop Mayse, he punched the officer in the face. After a short struggle, Mayse was apprehended and taken into custody. Officer Mason was taken to the hospital with a broken nose and hand. Mayes has been charged with three counts of battery, plus alcohol intoxication, and disorderly conduct
