As the officers were outside they noticed a 1996 Chevrolet full size pickup truck stop in the roadway nearby. The driver was later identified as Perry Kingsley, 59, of Harold, KY. When officers signaled for Kingsley to proceed forward he turned off his headlights and stayed in the roadway obstructing traffic. Trooper Brent Clark approached Kingsley and detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Kingsley put his truck in reverse and started going backwards. He was ordered to stop, but he then put his truck in drive and accelerated forward.
