Frozen Ice From Planes Toilet System Nearly Kills Canadian Woman
(Calgary, Canada) -- A grandmother of four was nearly killed when a chunk of ice from an airplane crashed through the roof of her house.
According to "The Calgary Sun," Marian Liknes said she was about to answer her phone when she thought she heard a gunshot and ducked.
It was actually a chunk of frozen waste water from an airplanes toilet system.
Liknes and her husband live underneath a flight path to Calgary International Airport.
Liknes was hit by flying shards of ice, which she initially thought was glass.
She said at first she was scared, then became hysterical and began to cry and shake.
The huge chunk of ice landed two feet away from her on her bed.
She said, quote, "The police said it wouldve killed me." A representative from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada said, quote, "These kinds of occurrences are rare, but not unheard of," saying the last time this happened in the Calgary area was at least nine years ago.
