Police Investigate Death of Albion Baby

Homicide charges are expected to be filed in connection with the death of a five-month-old baby in Albion, Illinois. According to published reports, officials in Edwards County say homicide charges against the boys father will be filed in Edwards County Circuit Court as early as Friday. Investigators allege that Jeffery Smiths son, Jeffery Warren Smith, Jr., died Wednesday from brain injuries sustained after the child was violently shaken. An autopsy on the child is scheduled for Friday.
