Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear unveiled a plan Thursday that would let the voters decide if they want casinos in the commonwealth.
The governor says the state needs money now for the budget crisis and revenue for the long term.
His answer for both....casino gambling.
Governor Beshears plan would allow seven casino licenses at horse tracks and up to five free standing casinos in places like Daviess county.
It would require a change in the states constitution but the governor says would generate nearly 600 million.
Ellis Park, owner Ron Geary says its a good plan.
He wants to make it legal so that it can help promote the thoroughbred racing industry, economic develop, and create new jobs.
Spokesperson for "Say no to casinos" Kent Ostrander says his organization will help rally against the legislation next Tuesday in frankfort.
