A food program first brought to the area by a west side Evansville church is now helping fill pantries at other tri-state churches Angel Food is a nationwide ministry that offers grocery store quality food at the fraction of the cost. And, everyone is eligible to place an order.
Nowadays everything seems to cost so much money. Even groceries. But one local church is helping anyone get food at a cheaper cost. Its a grocery relief program and its important for people who might be on a fixed income, single families, or elderly. Angel Food coordinator Stephanie Jersted, takes part in helping those who need food get it, without spending an arm and a leg. Heres how it works. First Christian Church gets different kinds of food from the angel food ministry such as corn, chicken breast, vegetables, and even different desserts, and angel food bulk purchases from the USDA. An estimated 50 dollars worth per every person. Then they turn around and re-sell the food to anyone who needs it. The catch, at a cheaper price. In fact, 20 dollars cheaper.
