Construction work on Diamond Avenue in Evansville has been a headache for drivers, residents and businesses for months.
On Tuesday, all it took was just one slip of heavy equipment and phone lines were cut.
That accident left more than 1500 people and businesses near that construction area in silence.
INDOTs Cher Goodwin says the accident happened as crews were filling a drainage hole, and a piece of equipment accidentally caught the phone line.
Goodwin tells us they worked quickly to get phone service back, but one business owner believes hes owed an apology.
Comics Unlimited owner Matt Hawes says crews are doing a sloppy job and should be held accountable for his loss of phones and business.
Hawes admits hes had multiple run-ins with crews since the work started.
Cher Goodwin says the phone outages were nothing more than an accident and service was restored in a matter of a few hours.
Matt Hawes says phone lines were dead from early Tuesday afternoon until early Wednesday morning.
