Mother Won't Serve Jail Time in Neglect Case

A mom involved in what doctors say was one of the worst cases of dehydration and malnutrition will not spend any time in prison.
Keresa Wilford pleaded guilty to neglect charges. In return, she will serve 18 months probation. However, if she successfully completes her probation, the charges may be reduced or dropped.
A little over a year ago, Wilford brought her 2-and-a-half year old daughter to Deaconess Hospital. At the time, the child only weighed 18 pounds. Doctors say she would have died within hours had she not received medical treatment.
