State Police Make another Arrest in Sexual Assault Case
Updated Information
Pike County – This afternoon, March 5, Indiana State Police Detective Tobias Odom made another arrest after his investigation revealed an 18-year-old woman from Pike County had been sexually assaulted while attending a party at 610 Main Street in Petersburg on January 6th. Kyle Schmett, 23, of Winslow, was arrested at approximately 3:30 p.m. after he turned himself in at the Pike County Jail. Detective Odom’s investigation revealed Schmett allegedly took nude photographs of the 18-year-old victim after she passed out at the party and then later destroyed the photographs. Schmett also allegedly furnished alcohol to the victim and failed to provide information to investigators regarding the sexual assault.
During the party the 18-year-old was provided alcohol and became intoxicated in a short period of time. While still at the party, Kenny Gideon Jr, 19, of Spurgeon, allegedly had sex with the 18-year-old without her consent on two separate occasions. Gideon was arrested yesterday and is currently being held on bond in the Pike County Jail.
Levi Beck, 23, of Petersburg, was also arrested yesterday after he turned himself in at the Pike County Jail. Beck was arrested for false reporting after the investigation revealed Beck was present during the sexual assault, but failed to provide information to Detective Odom.
