Evansville's Four Freedoms Monument was the backdrop for a candlelight vigil tonight to raise awareness of a growing problem in our area. Over the past few weeks, several women have died in alleged domestic violence incidents. Tonight's vigil was organized to bring attention to domestic and sexual violence in our community and statewide.

The Evansville Vanderburgh County Commission on domestic and sexual violence joined up with several victim's rights organizations including the Albion Fellows Bacon Center and Holly's House. Those organizations say these crimes are a community issue.

More than 60 people have died Indiana over the past year in domestic violence cases.
