A decision by an Evansville based health insurance provider will impact thousands of people.

Business wire on the Wall Street Journal website reports Welborn Health Plans will cease providing health benefits to its 30,000 customers on December 31st this year.

Welborn has endorsed Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield as the insurer of choice for its employer groups.

Almost 2,200 EVSC employees are covered by Welborn.

EVSC Chief Communications Officer Marsha Jackson says the EVSC is looking at possible Anthem plans but has not ruled out any provider of health insurance for its employees.
