Four Students Hospitalized After Downing Energy Drink
(Weston, FL) -- Four South Florida middle schoolers have been hospitalized after downing an energy drink.
The students, all eighth-grade boys, complained of an increased heart rate and were sweating profusely after sharing a Redline, which promises "the ultimate energy rush" on its bottle.
When paramedics found the students in the front office of Falcon Cove Middle School in Weston, they were reportedly "flushed and light-headed." The heavily-caffeinated drink contains several warnings on the bottle including "Keep out of reach of children." While potent, the drink is not illegal and district administrators say energy drinks are permitted on school grounds.
