Brand New North High School Sustains Heavy Storm Damage

The actual school building itself withstood last night's storms, but the Sports Complex is nearly destroyed and the semi trailer the North High Band used for its gear toppled in the wind, leaving students and administrators starting from scratch.
When severe weather strikes, nothing is safe. The North High Band equipment trailer tipped on its side in the wind, damaging props and an ATV. It took two over-sized tow trucks to right the trailer. Apparently, things have to get worse before they can get better. Righting the trailer took chunks out of the parking lot.
But the Sports Complex is where the storms' power is most evident. Greg Rice's wife is the softball coach at North. The practice field is basically destroyed.
But Husky Nation is ready to move forward.
The extent of the damage has led many to believe a small tornado could have passed through the area, but National Weather Service officials say it was just severe straight line winds. That doesn't change the fact that this damage is both extensive and very expensive.
The football stadium, though, is miraculously untouched. It will be ready to go when football season starts in a couple of weeks.
