Students will soon have an easier time parking outside Memorial High School. The School Board of Trustees unveiled its Neighborhood Redevelopment Plan today.

The school has bought property along Benninghof and Lodge Avenues to construct a 156 space parking area along with a new soccer field. School officials say the new parking lots will not only benefit the students but residents in the surrounding area as well.

"It takes presure off their streets," said President Brother Lawrence Murphy. "It will improve the traffic flow. It will improve the ability of even emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire engines to get through the streets. When you have double parking on both sides, it gets a little crazy around here."

The school plans to announce a $5 million capital campaign early next year to provide funding needed to complete the project.
